This chapter explains how to perform some common tasks




Running a slideshow

A slideshow may contain images or music. Press the 'Preferences' icon (the icon left from the slideshow icon) to edit your slideshow settings.
  1. Starting :A slideshow is started by pressing the icon shown below or by pressing Ctrl+Alt+S

  2. Stopping : stop a slideshow by pressing the Escape button.
  3. Pause & Resume : pause by pressing Space bar and resume by pressing Enter.
    If the slideshow is paused, you can advance to next slide with F3 or middle-mouse click
  4. Different kinds : LCAMediabase provides 4 different slideshows:

    1. Directly from the Import & Browse list
    2. From a keyword (photo album / playlist)
    3. From all items in the database
    4. From the items in an Index window

  5. Controlling the slideshow :

    1. Press + and - keys on numeric keypad to accelerate or slow down the slideshow (NumLock should be on).
    2. Use Alt-key and + and - keys on numeric keypad to accelerate or slow down the transitions.
    3. Press F3 key to advance the slideshow.
    4. Use the popupmenu (F10 or right-click) for other functions like image quality, transition types.

Create a thumbnail index

Wherever in the program you see this icon: or a button labeled 'Index' you can create an index window of the selected items

Create a photo album

Photo albums can be created by creating a keyword in the database and linking the photo's in the album to that keyword. The order of photo's in the album can be changed by dragging them in the desired order. (Keep Alt-key pressed while dragging).

Create a report

You can create printable reports from an indexwindow or from the search dialog

Create CSV files

Create an index window containing the selected items and select File->Create CSV

List all files in a folder including subfolders

Select the folder in the folder-tree, right-click and choose 'Scan including subfolders'

Search for an item in the database

Go to the database screen and press Ctrl-F, or press the button, or choose "Search->Find Multiple Items" from the main menu.
A Find dialog will appear that has three tabs, each tab is for a different search 'method'. The first tab will search in the remarks of the items, the second tab will search in the filenames of the items, the third tab will search in the date fields of the items.
