Image Viewer

This chapter gives reference info about all functions of the image viewer


Options unique to this image viewer: Quick start:
Fitting the image on the screen:

Show Info:If checked available info about the image is taken from the database or the image itself and displayed behind the image. Move image to the right if the info is not visible.

Changing (editing) the image:

Some basic but essential functions are provided for to edit your images. All in de Edit submenu of the popupmenu:

Moving the image within the viewing window:

You can move the image within the window by pressing the left mouse button and moving the mouse. Or you can use the following keys:

Other keys:

Key Function
Insert / Ctrl+Insert Set / Clear read-only file attribute. If the read-only flag is set the image file is protected against deletion and can not be deleted by LCAMediabase. Also it is displayed in red
Shift Move image window to background
Up / Down (Arrow keys or mouse wheel) Display previous / next image
X or Esc Close image window
F3 Show Random Image from originating list
F4 Go to database screen
F5 View index windows (if any are open)
F6 Shrink image to fit window if needed
F7 Fit image to current window size
F8 Go to import & browse screen
F9 Go to database screen and lookup a keyword
F10 Display popup menu
F11 Toggle Fullscreen
Ctrl-+ / Ctrl-- Decrease / Increase time delay (when browsing using Up and Down keys)
I Minimize window
A Maximize window
Ctrl+Alt+R Rotate image file right 90 degrees (lossless, jpeg only)
Ctrl+Alt+L Rotate image file left 90 degrees (lossless, jpeg only)
S (or Arrow key Right) Show information for this image only (Ctrl+I to always show infomation)
Ctrl-F9 Go to database screen and lookup a filename
Ctrl+F5 Display index windows (if any)
Ctrl+G Lookup current image in database
Ctrl+C Copy image to clipboard
Ctrl+E Edit Exif Comments or IPTC information stored in file (jpeg only)
Ctrl+V Paste image from clipboard
x or Ctrl+x where x=1..9 Add image to
basket #x
Ctrl+Del Delete image file to Recycle Bin
Numeric keypad keys
  • Arrow keys move image within window
  • 5-key: same as F7
  • + / -: Enlarge / reduce read resolution (and size) by 50% (jpeg images only)
Ctrl+Alt+S Start slideshow (see Options for slideshow options). Press Esc to stop slideshow
Ctrl+Alt+F Find image file in database with same CRC
Ctrl+Alt+I Add shortcut to this image to remarks field of current database item
Ctrl+Z Select zoom filter (resampling method)

Color Management

Some images (jpeg or tiff) can contain a Color Management profile. If such a profile (also known as icc profile) is found then the image viewer displays the colors in a more accurate way.

The image viewer can display the following image types:

.jpg;.jpeg;.jif JPEG image (RGB, GrayScale, YCbCr, CMYK, YCbCrK)
.tif;.tiff;.fax;.g3n;.g3f TIFF (rev.6.0 and Tech.Note #2, Packbits, JPEG, LZW, CCITT G.3 and G.4) with RGB, CMYK, B/W, CIELab color spaces to file or stream. Also FAX (CCITT3), G3F and G3N (Zetafax) formats supported. Supports paletted 4, 8, 16, 32, 64, 128 and 256 colors images
.psd Adobe Photoshop Image
.jp2;.j2k;.jpc;.j2c JPEG2000: JP2, J2K and JPC code stream formats (JPEG-2000 Part-1 standard, ISO/IEC 15444-1)
